Labubu dolls Temporarily Pulled from Shops in the UK

Stores around the world are still feeling the Labubu craze!

With long, unruly queues and even fights breaking out amongst those getting in line, it’s easy to see things get out of hand in these situations. Store managers can only do so much, often having to resort to yelling and screaming as a crown management tactic.

Some lines for releases have escalated to proper fights, like in a video posted by Tiktok user @mx.tthew.

The parent company of Labubu, Popmart, is now responding to all of these events (in the United Kingdom specifically) by halting the sale of this beloved series.

Popmart is now saying that they are pausing selling any Labubu products until further notice to prevent any additional safety concerns.

“Companies often use the strategy of scarcity to make their products even more appealing and making fans wanting to get their hands on them fast.” Susannah Streeter, Head of Money and Markets states.

And that can lead to big queues and lines building up in front of the store during release days, leading to the problem that Popmart is facing in the UK markets (and frankly, in other countries too) at the moment.

So how is Popmart going to handle things during this temporary ban?

The company has mentioned completely revamping their release mechanism that is “better structured and more equitable” for every customer involved.

They also mentioned that this definitely not the kind of “customer experience that they want to offer.” Thank goodness, Popmart!

If you live in the UK and you’d like to know any updates, I totally recommend heading over to Popmarkuk on Instagram to follow them for anything else.

Are you from the UK? How do you feel about Popmart halting the sale of Labubu’s in your country?
